After being a silent spectator for so long, telecom firm Idea has also decided to jump into the price wars, the “Telecom Dangal” before its too late.
Idea has launched plans similar to Airtel’s Free Data Plans in a move to entice and retain it’s prepaid and postpaid subscribers.
Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio has now literally benefited the Indian consumer, whether or not he is a Jio subscriber. All other operators, even those like Idea who were waiting for the Jio Welcome Offer to end before making a move are now forced to reduce the prices of their plans as well as offer new, comparable plans.
Idea has announced free data benefits for all subscribers of it’s 4G network, particularly new(and upgraders) customers or those who have recently purchased a new 4G handset.
Rs. 348 recharge pack allows the existing prepaid subscribers(with 4G enabled handset) to avail 1 GB Free 4G data along with unlimited voice calls and SMS valid for a period of 28 days.
Those who have recently upgraded to a new 4G handset can avail an even sweeter deal. Idea will offer 3GB free 4G data instead of only 1 GB for the same recharge of Rs. 348 to new handset owners, all other benefits remaining the same. This offer can be availed for a maximum of 13 recharges made before 31 December 2017.
Non-4G handset owners are also being offered unlimited calls along with 1GB free data.
Idea Postpaid subscribers are also entitled to more data and free calls. Rs. 499 rental plan now offers unlimited local, national and incoming roaming calls with 3GB free Data on 4G Handset.
Rs. 999 rental plan offers all the benefits of Rs. 499 plan with an additional benefit of free calls while roaming. Under this rental plan, 4G handset owners get 8GB 4G data while non-4G device owners get 5GB data.
Until 4G is launched in the remaining circles where Idea operates, the subscribers in those regions will get these benefits on 2G, similarly data will be 3G instead of 4G for certain circles.
Overall, Idea has offered many interesting benefits to all it’s subscribers and may also reduce prices further if the Telecom Dangal heatens.
