Huawei launched it’s much awaited Honor Magic phone in China on Friday. The phone loved for it’s sharp curves on the edges got sold out in seconds in the flash sale.
The phone is priced at a not so cheap amount of 3699 Chinese Yuan (roughly Rs. 36,100) but is totally worth every dime. Honor Magic comes in two colour varients namely Golden Black and Porcelain White.
Honor Magic is currently for sale exclusively in China across many major Chinese ecommerce sites. The plans for global availability of the phone are not yet announced by Huawei.
The USP of the phone is its curvaceous body and it’s impressive AI(Artificial Intelligence) Assistant.
Honor Magic runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based Honor Magic Live OS and has two cool AI based features, FaceCode and WiseScreen. Both these features are focused on providing extra layers of security. FaceCode feature assures that the incoming notifications are viewable only by the owner of the Magic phone. WiseScreen uses a sensor in the phone’s frame and an IR sensor in the front camera to recognise the hands and eyes of the user and then securely turn on the display.
The device has a dual primary camera, i.e, two primary cameras each with a resolution of 12 megapixels. The front-facing camera is of 8 megapixel resolution. Honor Magic has a 5.09-inch Quad HD AMOLED 3D Curved Glass display and it sports a 16nm Octa-Core Kirin 950 chipset clubbed with Mali T880-MP4 GPU.
Honor Magic is a dual sim phone with 64 GB of internal space and packs an impressive 4 GB RAM but lacks a memory card slot. The phone has a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels and an all-glass body. Huawei has been able to pack all these features in Honor Magic and still manage to keep the thickness at about 7.8mm and weight 145 grams.
Like all other phones today, Honor Magic also sports a fingerprint sensor with an embedded Home Button. It also has the common connectivity and network options like 4G LTE, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, and GPS/ A-GPS.
One major concern is the battery packed in the Honor Magic which is a measly 2900 mAh. Though it is completely compensated by the claim that it can be charged upto 90 percent with half an hour using the original Honor Magic Power charger.
Overall, Huawei’s Honor Magic appears to be a feature rich phone with premium looks justifying the not-so-cheap price tag. But, when or whether Huawei will launch it in India and other countries is yet to be announced.
