Reliance Communications has announced to offer 10GB 4G data for Rs. 93 only on its Reliance Jio Networks. The offer is only for its CDMA customers and that only for those who opted to upgrade to the 4G network which makes 90 percent of the subscribers.
Initially, the offer can be availed in a few select circles only but Reliance has planned to offer this awesome internet pack to the subscribers in other circles also. The prices may vary from Rs 93 to 97 but still it is a far better offering as compared to plans from other networks and even other Reliance owned networks.
Reliance Communications acquired MTS few months back in a move to strengthen its leadership in the CDMA sector leaving behind the subscribers of MTS and MTS outlet owners in confusion and a situation of chaos. MTS subscribers are still in limbo of what will happen to their SIM cards once the transformation of MTS to Reliance is complete. Will the old sim work and Reliance will operate it under the MTS brand or will they be offered the chance to upgrade? We will see that in the months to come.
Reliance Jio will definitely be offering mind-blowing deals and awesome plans in the coming months to increase the subscriber count and recoup the billions in investments it made in the spectrum, acquisition of MTS and laying of towers and cables to make its 4G network.
One thing that is overlooked by many is the upgradation of phones to work with CDMA 4G. Currently all the flagship phones support GSM 4G only. There is a dearth of good choices in CDMA smartphones and even if there are any good CDMA phones they are mostly in the Rs. 20k+ range. How Reliance Jio will be tackling this situation is yet to be seen(though the obvious answer is that we have to buy phones too along with the SIM from Reliance)
We will keep you updated on the latest news and developments from Reliance Jio and will prepare list of best phones available in the market that support Reliance Jio 4G CDMA for your reference.
Do you think Reliance will be able to convince people to ditch GSM and opt CDMA? Will you buy a new phone just to avail mind-boggling data plans(and voice plans too hopefully)? Please share your opinions in the comments section below.
